ONE SYSTEM
Across brand, website, and product
A shared visual and interaction language connected previously fragmented parts of the experience.
Brand & Product Design
Turning complex people data into a clearer, scalable experience across brand, website, and product.
Role: Lead Product & Brand Designer
Scope: Brand Identity · Website · Product Design · Design System · Data Visualization

Compete started as a real-time compensation and benefits benchmarking platform for tech companies. As the product grew, so did the amount of data, workflows, and decisions it needed to support.
The brand, website, and product had evolved quickly, but they no longer felt like parts of one coherent experience.
I led the redesign across brand, website, and product, and built a shared design system to bring consistency to navigation, forms, tables, filters, states, and data visualization as the platform expanded.

Compete helps HR teams work with compensation, benefits, employee, and market data. The challenge was not simply to make that information look cleaner.
Users needed to compare complex datasets, move between high-level insights and employee-level detail, and understand what required attention without losing context.
The product also had to support very different workflows - from onboarding and data setup to benchmarking, employee management, and analytics - while still feeling like one system.

The new identity needed to feel credible enough for sensitive compensation data while remaining approachable for HR teams using the product every day.
I created a clearer visual language and extended it across the website through stronger hierarchy, product storytelling, human imagery, and data visualization.
The same foundations also informed the product design system, helping the brand remain recognizable without making functional interfaces feel overly expressive.

The product needed to support users from their first interaction with Compete through ongoing, data-heavy work.
I redesigned core journeys across onboarding, data import, role matching, benchmarking setup, and configuration. Reusable patterns for forms, selectors, tables, modals, feedback states, and navigation made the experience more predictable as new workflows were added.
A large design system sat underneath this work, giving the team a consistent foundation rather than treating each new feature as an isolated screen.

Data sat at the center of the Compete experience, but more information did not automatically mean more clarity.
I designed dashboards, benchmarking views, employee tables, filters, and analytics states around hierarchy and scanability, helping users move between summary insights and detailed employee data without losing context.
The system was designed to accommodate different compensation structures, organizational needs, and increasingly complex HR use cases over time.

OUTCOME
The redesign created a more coherent experience across brand, website, and product while establishing reusable foundations for a growing set of HR workflows.
ONE SYSTEM
A shared visual and interaction language connected previously fragmented parts of the experience.
BUILT FOR COMPLEXITY
Reusable patterns supported both guided workflows and dense, data-heavy interfaces.
DESIGNED TO SCALE
The system was designed to support new workflows, datasets, and HR use cases as the platform evolved.
