Dario Health product experience

Project Introduction

One ecosystem, two very different users

Dario's digital health ecosystem serves two very different audiences.

Members use the mobile experience to track measurements, understand their health, build habits, and stay connected to coaching and educational support. Clinical teams use Dario Engage to monitor populations, review alerts, understand trends, communicate with members, and manage care at scale.

I worked across both experiences and helped build a large shared design system covering typography, color, components, states, data visualization, navigation, and interaction patterns. The goal was consistency across the ecosystem without forcing mobile and web to behave the same way.

The Challenge

Designing for simplicity without hiding complexity

Healthcare products contain a large amount of sensitive information, but users should not have to feel that complexity.

For members, the experience needed to feel approachable, motivating, and easy to understand during repeated everyday health-management tasks.

For care teams, the same ecosystem needed to support dense patient data, alerts, measurements, trends, and fast decision-making.

The challenge was to create one recognizable system that could feel lightweight and human on mobile while remaining structured and efficient in a professional clinical environment.

01 - Mobile Experience

Making everyday health management feel approachable

The mobile experience was designed around clarity, reassurance, and small moments of progress.

I worked across onboarding, health tracking, measurements, statistics, coaching, educational content, sharing, and daily check-ins. Clear hierarchy, friendly illustration, accessible data visualization, and consistent interaction patterns helped make repeated health-management tasks feel less clinical and more human.

The mobile components were built as part of the wider Dario design system, allowing new journeys and content types to remain consistent as the experience expanded.

02 - Dario Engage

Helping care teams see what matters first

Dario Engage had a very different job.

Clinical teams needed to monitor many members at once, identify alerts, understand changes over time, communicate directly, and move quickly from population-level information into an individual's health context.

I designed dashboards, patient views, charts, alerts, chat, filters, actions, and management states with a stronger emphasis on hierarchy, scanability, and speed.

The shared design system made it possible to support this level of complexity while keeping patterns predictable across the platform.

OUTCOME

Designed for sustained engagement

The work formed part of a broader Dario ecosystem built around long-term engagement, personalization, and clinical clarity.

4.9/5

App Store rating

Dario reports an average rating of over 4.9 stars across more than 20,000 App Store reviews.

80%

Retention after one year

Dario reports an 80% member retention rate after one year.

ONE SYSTEM

Across member and clinician experiences

A shared design system connected consumer-facing health journeys with complex care-management workflows.

These are company-reported product metrics reflecting Dario's broader care model and product ecosystem, not the redesign alone.
